I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Oxfordshire working with individuals, relationships and groups. I completed my TA training at TA East where I deepened my interest in working both relationally and anti-oppressively. I have a keen interest in the experiences of marginalised identities and powerlessness and their effects on mental health and wellbeing. Holding both coloniser and colonised identities, I am curious about the role of power in the therapeutic relationship and I aim to foster a sense of ‘power with’ clients to help facilitate deep knowing of their internal and social/cultural worlds rather than ‘power over’. Before training to be a Psychotherapist, I worked in older-adult mental health and education. I taught English in a number of different countries before returning to the UK to teach asylum seekers, refugees and settled migrants. This experience had a profound effect on me and the importance of both healing in relationships with others whilst also committing to social justice work.
